Dear Church Family,

When my boys began to be daring they used to ask me to make them swords, a skate board ramp and a tree house.  I complied because I also enjoy taking risks and pushing the limits.  But I drew the line when they wanted to ski off the roof into a pile of snow or put the trampoline under the tree house so they could jump from 20 feet and see what would happen.  I would tell them, “My job is to keep you from dying.”  There’s a difference between taking risks and being a fool.  I wanted to teach that courage is not the absence of fear but pushing through to achieve great things.
In our Sunday services we’re studying the book of Isaiah.  Isaiah’s job as a prophet is to speak for God to the king.  King Ahaz’s job is to listen but he doesn’t do that very well.  Isaiah warns the king of the consequences of not listening to God’s Word, but Ahaz thinks he knows better.
Over and over again God woos His people to come back to Him.  He promises them the best life possible but they refuse to listen.
Two lessons come out of this: 1) God won’t give up on you, 2) It always goes better God’s way.
Hope to see you Sunday,
Allen
