Dear Church Family,

     The old hymn “Take it to the Lord in Prayer” has a line that goes like this:
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
  Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
     It reminds me that we often carry self-imposed loads of care.  It could be worry or anxiety.  It could be unnecessarily thinking too much about your own issue or even someone else’s.  In our passage this week, Colossians 3, Paul suggests unraveling yourself from at least eleven different sins.  Sins which we have gotten comfortable with or don’t even realize we’re doing.
     But once you let go or unload the negative things, have we replaced them with good?  Too often we don’t.  if you struggle with overeating, what good thing will give you the incentive to stop.  If you are inclined toward negativity, are you training yourself to speak more positively? And on and on.
     Paul then suggests putting on eleven new things.  Read the passage to find out what they are.
God Bless,
Allen
