Dear Church Family,
C.S. Lewis said “It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” From his sermon, The Weight of Glory”
Too often, we define our relationship with God by what we get out of it. We are products of our culture. We are consumers. And we treat God the same way. Then we wonder why we are disappointed in our relationship with him when things go wrong. We are focused on THINGS not Him.
Can we be cured of this? Our passage this week is Colossians 1:1-29 and I want to attempt to redirect our attention to worship as the remedy for this malady.
See you Sunday,
Allen
