Dear Church Family,
As we prepare for the season of Advent, it’s good to be reminded that as we celebrate Jesus’ first coming as an infant, we need to remember that He’s coming back in power and majesty the next time. Most of us are comfortable with Jesus in a manger. He seems rather nonthreatening, cute and cuddly. But a good reading of Scripture tells us that this Jesus is also the sovereign God of the universe.
Many people welcomed Him, but many, like Herod and the Pharisees were threatened by Him…even as a child in a manger.
Remember why He came: To fulfill the Law of God, to die for our sins, to breach the separation between us and God and show us how to live.
So, are we ready for Him to return? Because when He comes, He will come in judgment separating the sheep (believers) and the goats (nonbelievers). Let’s use this season of Advent to look afresh at “The reason for the season.”
God Bless,
Allen
