Dear Church Family,

It’s an election year.  Hard to miss isn’t it?  We are faced with a choice between two candidates, two ideologies and two representations of authority.  This week I will be starting a series on the Gospel of Mark.  This is purported to be the first Gospel written and it seems to be written in a style of urgency.
Right off the bat, Mark impresses us with Jesus’ authority.  Over sickness, the law and nature.  Our decision is whether we will choose to recognize it or not.  Do we believe God is loving and good?  Is He safe to follow?  Jesus spoke of a new kingdom.  Are we aware that this kingdom is present here and now.
This election will come and go.  Some will be happy and some sad at the result.  Jesus is not running for our approval.  He’s already king.  His ideology and philosophy are written in the Bible and in the lives of those who are His followers.  The question is: Will we recognize it?
God Bless,
Allen
